Description
We start the 9th edition of Moldo Crescendo! We invite you on October 26 at 19:00 to an exquisite concert at the Organ Hall for the official opening of the festival.
The motto of the 9th edition, "Ochi și Urechi" (Eyes and Ears), takes its inspiration from the Romanian expression "a fi atent" (to be attentive), because classical music requires a well-trained attention muscle, but also because this year we focus on sight and hearing: some concerts will include visual effects, while others will be enjoyed with eyes closed.
In the first part of the concert, we will listen to Piano Quartet No. 1 by Mel Bonis, paying tribute to one of the few known female composers in the history of music, who was affected by the times when women had almost no right to self-expression. For this reason, Mélanie Hélène Bonis often presented herself under her husband's name.
We will also honor the Moldavian violinist and composer Boris Dubosarschi, by performing his String Quartet No. 4.
In the intermission, we will enjoy the cocktails offered by our sponsor, Schweppes, and return with renewed energy to a piece by another remarkable composer.
This time, it’s a fellow Moldovan, Zlata Tcaci, the author of over 800 musical works across various genres. We will perform her Trio on Jewish Themes for Violin, Cello, and Piano.
And we will end our concert with the notable Piano Quintet by Robert Schumann.
The performers who will delight us at the opening are:
- Ilian Gârneț - violin (Germany)
- Radu Dunca - violin (Romania)
- Daniel Vots - viola (Romania)
- Radu Sinaci - cello (Romania)
- Marcel Lazăr - piano (Austria/Moldova)
Students of music institutions have free access to concerts upon presenting their student ID, subject to seat availability.
